Ropes Course Team Building Tips

If you’re planning on bringing your staff into Climb Vegas ropes course as a team-building activity, then you’re doing something right! A ropes course is the perfect place to learn how to work together as a team both on the course and in the office. Completing a ropes course as an individual is easy to do, but so is tackling work projects alone. The point of an indoor ropes course for team building is to foster the skills that you need to be successful as a team; communication, confidence, leadership, resourcefulness, collaboration, and so much more. You can learn all of that and more at a ropes course which makes it a great team-building event for your group. But before you tackle the ropes, here are a few tips to help you prepare for the ropes course!

Be Prepared To Tackle a Ropes Course Team Building Activity

Taking on a high ropes course requires you and your team to come prepared and ready to challenge yourself both physically and mentally. On one hand, you will need to climb, balance, and work your way through three levels of ropes challenges. So wear something comfortable, bring close-toed shoes, and do a little bit of stretching! On the other hand, a lot of people are afraid of heights. It’s a pretty normal response to being suspended up in the air. But remember that it’s common to feel afraid of heights. Just remember that you are safely secured, a ropes course is inspected and tested frequently to make sure that it is up to our high standards and that you are not going through the course alone. There are Climb Vegas team members and your coworkers there as well.

Come Prepared To Communicate During the Team Building Event

When it comes to teamwork and team building, communication is key! Come prepared to engage in effective communication with your teammates. One example of how communication can be important during a ropes course is encouragement. When one person is going through a challenge like a tight rope, they may freeze up or pause. Telling them “you can do it, you got this” can give them the confidence to tackle the challenge. That same level of encouragement can help them in the workplace when there is a daunting work project that seems challenging. Again, communication is key!

Don’t Compete, Collaborate

When you get into an athletic environment with a group, competition comes naturally. While competition can make activities more challenging and fun, sometimes competition can be counterproductive. Instead of competing with your group, take the time to work together, and focus on helping each other instead of “winning.” There’s a way that you can all win by working together, you just have to find the best way that you all work together.

Apply What You Learn on the Ropes Course in Your Workplace

Finally, remember to apply what you learn about teamwork in the workplace. Practice communication, collaboration, and all of the skills that your team has learned. As you can see, a ropes course can be a great team-building event, so what are you waiting for?
