5 Ways to Get Kids Out of The House

Incorporating a healthy and active lifestyle into your children's lives at an early age is important to their overall health and development. Yet, it can be hard to get your kids outside when they are used to staying inside playing video games or watching TV. But luckily there are ways you can encourage them to participate in outdoor activities with some simple strategies that include encouragement, patience, and creativity.

1) Create an Outdoor Space for Kids

Kids absolutely love spending time climbing up on things, so why not create a backyard space filled with all of the things they love? Whether it's an old tree house filled with pillows and accessories or an outfitted playhouse complete with a serving window for snacks and beverages - anything that gets your kids excited about just hanging out outside.

2) Schedule Outdoor Activities

Set aside a specific time for families to spend outdoors. Whether it's as simple as making a weekly family picnic dinner or going on a walk around the neighborhood after dark, kids love routine and repetition. So make sure that whatever outdoor activity you schedule is one that takes place consistently. Your little ones will start to notice when the scheduled day has arrived, which could help them look forward to participating in their favorite outdoor activities even more.

3) Organize an Outdoor Adventure

Choose a park near your house and plan an afternoon trip with your children at least once every other month or so. The excitement of being somewhere new can be exciting for all! Discovering new things together is a great way to spend some quality time as a family.

4) Let Them Play Outside on Their Own

Kids love spending time outside exploring independently, and with good reason - there is so much out there to see! So why not give your kids the space to explore. Whether it's allowing them to bike around the block with their siblings or letting them play at a local park when you know they will be safe with all of the other children around - trust in your child's ability to know what he or she can handle.

Allowing them more freedom could help promote independence and open up opportunities for fun new ways for your children to become engaged in outdoor activities .

5) Support Physical Activity And Outdoor Play At A Young Age

Playing catch, taking walks, or going to the park are ways you can engage with your children as they grow older, but supporting physical activity and outdoor play from an early age is important too. Start introducing activities like swimming, bike riding, and playground time during their toddler years so that by the time they hit elementary school they will see all of these activities as ways to have fun.

If you have children, then you know how hard it is to get them out of the house and into the great outdoors. With only so much time in the day, it can be tough to find ways to get kids active and engaged at a young age. By following these 5 tips, you'll have no problem in getting your kids out of the house!
